There are two situations that satisfy the minimal requirements for Lead Teachers at Gate City. These distinctions
may determine the level of pay, center, classroom, age of students, and/or ability to promote within the agency.
I. Minimal of a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or Family and Consumer
Sciences (Child Development, Child and Family Studies, etc. documented by a certified transcript from the college/university
and a copy of the degree).
II. Minimal of an Associate’s Degree or Montessori Diploma in Early Childhood Care and
Education or Child Development, Advanced Early Childhood Care, Early Childhood Education or Human Services documented
by a certified transcript from the college/university or technical school and a copy of the credential. Teachers with
this credential must be currently and continuously enrolled in a Bachelors Degree program in an approved Early Childhood
Education field to be completed by January 1, 2014.
There are two situations that satisfy the minimal requirements for Assistant Teachers. Those requirements are listed as:
I. Minimal of an Associate’s Degree or Montessori Diploma in Early Childhood Care and
Education or Child Development, Advanced Early Childhood Care, Early Childhood
Education or Human Services documented by a certified transcript from the college/university or
technical school and a copy of the credential. Teachers with this credential must be currently and
continuously enrolled in a Bachelors Degree program in an approved Early Childhood Education field to be completed by January 1, 2014.
II. Minimal of a Technical School Diploma in Early Childhood, Early Childhood Care and
Education or Child Development, documented by a certified transcript from the college/university or
technical school and a copy of the credential. Teachers with this credential must be currently and
continuously enrolled in a Bachelors Degree program in an approved Early Childhood Education field
to be completed by January 1, 2014.
At least one year of child care or preschool age experience is required for all Pre-kindergarten positions.
Demonstrate general knowledge of child abuse and neglect laws, mandated reporting laws for child abuse and neglect,
confidentiality laws that effect children, and ability and willingness to perform first aid and CPR life saving measures, and not have a criminal record.
Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule of any eight hour shift between the hours of 6:30 am and 7:00 pm.
Employees are sometimes transferred to work at other locations on temporary and permanent assignments depending on the enrollment, staffing, or other needs of the business.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are normal for an early childhood setting. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
